Beyond Challenges and Hardship: Understanding the Role of the Taskmaster and the Rewards of Integrated Saturn in the Birth Chart.
This post was inspired by a talk with a client who’s been struggling with the strong influence of Saturn in her chart:
A lot’s been written and said about the hardships Saturn takes us through and the challenges we must experience as reflected by the position of the Lord of Time in the birth chart
However, it’s important to have a balanced understanding and be consciously aware of the positive impact of the Saturnian energy and archetypal functions as well, in order to see their important role in life and as part of evolution.
Rewards of Integrated Saturn:
Once we understand and embrace the lessons taught by the Taskmaster and strict teacher Saturn:
⧫ We learn how to develop discipline and the ability to build & preserve, along with personal responsibility.
⧫ Challenges are no longer perceived as punishment but as opportunities for growth.
⧫ Psychological functions, previously inhibited are balanced and integrated.
⧫ We mature and can achieve lasting stability and success.
Yes, Saturn limits, blocks, and hinders but it also provides the building blocks, constitutes the foundation, the structure, the skeleton (literally), the shape without which no tangible form can exist. It protects through shells (calcium, Saturnian element) until new life is ready to hatch.
The word ‘paradise’ has its origin in the Persian language, later known as coming from the Greek word ‘paradeisos’ which means ‘royal (enclosed) park’! We need the enclosure, the stone (Saturn) walls around that beautiful place we call paradise to separate it and protect it from anything on the outside. The land we call our property, the house, the yard, the garden they all need a fence and that is also the function of Saturn!
Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu teaches:
‘Shape clay to make a bowl; it’s the empty space inside that makes the bowl usable. Cut out doors and windows; their emptiness makes the room usable.’
The empty space is what we need but it has to be given a specific form to separate it from the whole and make it useful.
Let’s appreciate more the presence of this energy in our charts and our reality!
It’s true that Saturn usually says No, but doing so motivates us to learn and find a way to accomplish what we want and grow in the process.
